Polycarbonate Sheet — Cut to Size
Lexan Sheet vs. Poly-Sky Polycarbonate: What's the Difference?
“Lexan” is a registered trademark of SABIC. At Plastics Canada we supply Poly-Sky — our own polycarbonate product line. Same base material, cut to your exact size, shipped from Vaughan, Ontario.
A note on brand names: Poly-Sky is not manufactured by SABIC and is not sold or labeled as Lexan brand material. We are transparent about this so you can make an informed decision for your project. For projects requiring specific Lexan or Makrolon certification, please contact us before ordering.
The Material
What Polycarbonate Sheet Actually Is
Polycarbonate is a clear, high-impact thermoplastic used across glazing, machine guarding, signage, and industrial applications. It is significantly more impact-resistant than glass or acrylic while staying lightweight and easy to cut, drill, and form.
Several manufacturers produce polycarbonate sheet under their own brand names — Lexan (SABIC), Makrolon (Covestro), Tuffak (Plaskolite), and others — each with their own certifications and warranty terms. “Lexan” has become a common shorthand for polycarbonate sheet in general, similar to how “Kleenex” is used for tissue, even when the product is not made by SABIC.
At Plastics Canada, we supply Poly-Sky — our own polycarbonate product line — cut to size from our Vaughan, Ontario facility.
